OKLAHOMA CITY —  Bedlam softball returns to the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium on Friday, May 10 at 6 p.m. as No. 1 Oklahoma and Oklahoma State kick off the softball edition of The Bedlam Series, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball announced today. General Admission Tickets ($8) will be available at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex ticket window beginning at 5:30 p.m.  ASA/USA Softball will also be providing a LIVE stream of the game, including in-game commentary.  Links for the streaming, live stats and up-to-date weather and game information can be found at  Updates can also be found on ASA/USA Softball’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will meet three times this season with the first on neutral territory in Oklahoma City, home of the NCAA Women’s College World Series (WCWS) where both teams appeared in 2011. The teams will meet again in Norman on May 11 and in Stillwater on May 12.  The Cowgirls come into the game with a strong pitching staff, led by senior Kat Espinosa (Houston, Texas), who leads the team in innings pitched and strikeouts, and junior Simone Freeman (Sydney, Australia).  Oklahoma State also boasts a powerful offense with Tarah Ettinger (Plainfield, Ill.) leading the team with a .333 batting average, seven home runs and 31 RBI.

"We are looking forward to the Bedlam softball game in Oklahoma City,” said OSU Head Coach Rich Wieligman.  “The folks at ASA/USA Softball have always run a first-class facility, and we're thankful that we have the opportunity to play at the best softball stadium in the country. We have a difficult challenge ahead of us in facing the top-ranked team in the country, and I believe our players are up to the task."

Coming into the game as the top-team in the country, the Sooners return to the ASA Hall of Fame Complex for the first time since their runner-up finish at the 2012 NCAA WCWS.  The Sooner squad features three athletes who were recently named a Top 10 Finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award: Keilani Ricketts (San Jose, Calif.), the reigning USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, Michelle Gascoigne (Benicia, Calif.) and Lauren Chamberlain (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.).  The Sooners roster also includes Jessica Shults (Valencia, Calif.) who, along with Ricketts, helped lead the USA Softball Women’s National Team to a sixth World Cup of Softball title and a silver-medal finish at the International Softball Federation (ISF) Women’s World Championship in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada last summer.  Chamberlain, Destinee Martinez (Corona, Calif.) and Shelby Pendley (Rio Rancho, N.M.) also have previous USA Softball experience as members of the 2010-11 USA Softball Junior Women’s National Team.  All three claimed a Gold Medal at the 2010 Pan American Championship (18-Under) in Bogota, Colombia while Chamberlain and Martinez helped secure the program’s second-consecutive Gold Medal at the 2011 International Softball Federation (ISF) Junior Women’s World Championship in Cape Town, South Africa.

“Playing at the Hall of Fame Stadium always has a significant meaning to it,” said Ricketts.  “Having the opportunity to play the biggest rivalry game in the state of Oklahoma at the stadium just makes the rivalry even more meaningful.”

The Bedlam game is part of an exciting line-up of events at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex.  The 2013 events include the 2013 NCAA WCWS (May 30-June 6) and the World Cup of Softball VIII (July 11-14), including the Slow Pitch Showdown and Border Battle V (July 11).  Tickets for the World Cup of Softball VIII are available at  You can also visit to find a complete list of 2013 events at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex.
