OKLAHOMA CITY ---  Olivia Galati (West Babylon, N.Y.) has been named the USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Week for April 1-7, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball announced today. The Hofstra senior tossed two no-hitters, including a perfect game, to help the Pride finish the week with a 6-1 record.

"It's a great honor to win such a prestigious award," said Galati. "I appreciate the consideration, and I'd like to thank my teammates and coaches. I would not have been able to win it without them."

On the week, Galati posted a 4-1 record with a save while throwing two no-hitters (including a six-inning perfect game) while allowing just one run in the entire week.  The West Babylon native racked up 62 strikeouts over the course of 36 innings of work, which calculates to 1.7 strikeouts per inning.  She finished the week with a 0.19 ERA.  Galati also performed in the batter’s box, hitting .333 at the plate with four runs scored and three RBI.

"It's a great honor and a privilege to have Olivia put in the company of the best players in the country," said head coach Bill Edwards. "We're proud of Olivia and it's great to see her recognized for her contributions to our program. It's rewarding to see her hard work and dedication lead to such a prestigious award."

This is the first USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Week honor for Galati and the first Player of the Week honors for Hofstra University.
