March 26, 2012, 12 a.m. (ET)
Rocklin Girls Fastpitch Softball of Rocklin, California earned a coveted Responsible Sports Community Grant in the spring of 2011.
Rocklin Softball is committed to providing friendly competition while educating players about sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and integrity. Lead by coaches, players and administrators the Rocklin Softball League earned $2,500 to do just that. “As our economic environment changes, we are continually searching for new ways to keep our league's registration fees to a minimum while providing the same quality of program to our youth athletes. We are grateful for companies like Liberty Mutual who continually place importance on the value that youth sport brings to a community and its residents.” said Tonya Lee Rocklin Softball League administrator.

To earn the grant, Rocklin Girls Fastpitch Softball rallied coaches, family, players and fans to participate in the program through use of Facebook posts and personal messages to friends on facebook. They held a “Responsible Sports Grant Day” at the fields where they offered free ice cream sandwich for every person who brought in a certificate, as well as tools and suggestions found on Extra Point to produce flyers and email messages.
