How to handle failure

March 23, 2012, 12 a.m. (ET)

USA Softball Olympic Gold Medalist Jessica Mendoza knows what it takes to win. As both a collegiate All-Amerrican and starting outfielder for Team USA, Jessica has had a very successful career on the field. Her success has come thanks in part to her ability to overcome failure.

In this video, Jessica admits that failure is as much a part of Softball as it is a part of life. Athletes at all levels are going to strike out, walk in the winning run or drop the ball on occasion. But Responsible Coaches and Players are prepared to brush it off and move on.

This video and many more like it are available to parents and coaches through ResponsibleSports.com, along with other helpful resources that include Weekly Coaching or Parenting Tips, Ask the Expert and much more.

You can search the videos by sport, by relevant audience (parent or coach), by the principle that is taught, and or, by keyword search such as “parent coach dialog” or “team rewards.”
