The Power of Discipline

Aug. 20, 2012, 12 a.m. (ET)

U.S. National Team softball outfielder Kaitlin Cochran shares how the self discipline she developed through her experiences in softball helped her successfully juggle sports and studies. She also talks about how supportive parents, motivational coaches and her teammates have inspired her to strive for greatness along with how she hopes softball will return to the Olympics soon.

In this episode, Kaitlin shares with Responsible Sports the importance of self disciple ““I think it helped me, because I was able to manage my time well, and I understood that when I had a free moment that I would dedicate that to the classroom. I mean, yes, once again there is a time when you can rest, just watch TV, go out with some friends, all of that, but when I knew I had to get something done in the classroom I did, and I think that was a result of me playing a sport and me just having that self-discipline that is taught in a sport. I think that really helped me for the long haul, for not just being a student or being an athlete, but just helped me in life.”
