USA Junior Womens National Team Improves

USA Junior Women’s National Team Improves to 7-0
Caguas, Puerto Rico – The USA Softball Junior Women’s National Team went 2-0 on Tuesday defeating Ecuador, 19-0, and Aruba, 18-0, at the II Junior Women’s Pan American Championships. The U.S. will face Antilles Holandesas at 4 p.m. tomorrow before entering medal rounds on Friday.
The Red, White and Blue had an impressive 17 hits, handing Ecuador (1-5) a 19-0 loss in four innings. Megan Elliott (Prince Frederick, MD) earned the win in the circle striking out four of six batters faced. Donna Kerr (San Diego, Calif.) came in to pitch the final two innings striking out all six batters she faced.
In her first appearance as designated player, Lindsey Sisk (Murrieta, Calif.), led the way for the U.S. going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Centerfielder Katie Schroeder (Yorba Linda, Calif.) was responsible for a team-high four RBI, going 2-for-2 with one run scored. Rounding out the offensive leaders for the U.S. was K’Lee Arredondo (Tempe, Ariz.) who scored a team-high four runs. Ashley Hansen (Chandler, Ariz.), Arredondo, Bianca Mejia (Sylmar, Calif.) and Alissa Haber (Newark, Calif.) each contributed two hits. Also key in the win was Rosey Neill (Laguna Hills, Calif.) who hit her first home run as a member of the national team that contributed three RBI.
The offense continued its explosive efforts into the second game of the day, an 18-0 victory over Aruba (1-6). Six of the USA’s starting lineup registered two or more hits including Monica Harrison (Garden Grove, Calif.) and Meijia who both went 4-for-4, scoring four runs and three runs, respectively. Hansen contributed a team-high three RBI with two runs scored with Neill scoring three runs with two RBI. Sisk worked the first two innings in the circle, earning her first win of the tournament. Kenzie Fowler (Tucson, Ariz.) came in for the final two innings, striking out five of six batters faced.
