Bustos Paces the Way to 16-0 Win Over Guatemala
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala - Team USA handed host team Guatemala a 16-0 loss, edging its record to 5-0 at the Pan Am qualifier in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The team turned in 12 hits while the pitching staff gave up only one hit.
Crystl Bustos (Canyon County, Calif.) once again led the offensive charge for the U.S. going 2-3 with a three-run homerun. Natasha Watley (Irvine, Calif.) was 2-4 while Jessica Mendoza (Camarillo, Calif.) hit at a perfect clip of 3-3. Jaime Clark (Tustin, Calif.) was 2-3 at the plate with Tony Mascarenas turning in three RBI, going 2-2.
Jennie Ritter (Dexter, Mich.) started on the mound going three innings and giving up one hit. Amanda Freed (Cypress, Calif.) came in to pitch the final inning, giving up no hits.
Next up for Team USA is Nicaragua tomorrow at 2 p.m. with playoff play beginning on Thursday and finals set for Saturday at 8 p.m.
