Olympic Team honored on CBS

Oklahoma City, OK --- On Sunday, October 24 the USA Softball gold medal winning Olympic team will be honored on CBS (4 p.m. (CST), 5 p.m. (EST); 3pm in NY & New England) for receiving the 2004 ARETE Courage in Sports Award. Now in its second decade, the annual ARETE Honors pay tribute to those rare individuals who, by their refusal to accept limitations, demonstrate the ability of athletics to bring out the best in mankind.
Described as, “This most inspirational night in sports,” other recipients featured include Termite Watkins-an American who was in Iraq as an exterminator and ended up coaching the Iraqi boxing team at the Olympic Games; Dennis Walters-a golfer who was injured in a golf cart accident, is paralyzed and now has his own trick golf show; Ben Comen- a 17-year old cross country runner w/cerebral palsy; swimmer Michael Phelps; gymnast Carly Patterson; cyclist Lance Armstrong and the University of Connecticut's men’s and women’s basketball champions.
