USA Roller Sports Roller Derby Committee Members


John McNeel, aka: Papa Roadkill da Animal, was originally a competitive artistic skater, then a coach and
a judge. He was a rink operator in California for several years. John was on the Hardball Roller Hockey
Committee for 14 years, as well as actively playing, coaching and refereeing at the National level. He was
on the committee setting up and organizing the world championships in Santa Clara, CA for Hardball
Roller Hockey in 2005. He was National coach of the year and is twice inducted in the USARS Hall of
Fame for coaching and distinguished service. John has been involved in roller derby for the past 5 years,
coaching and refereeing. He has refereed at RollerCon and all over California. In the past, he also skated
with the Bay Bombers, on the banked track.

Sabra Bunger aka Stormy Trooper started skating roller derby in April of
2005 with the Kansas City Roller Warriors (WFTDA) until starting her
own league, Dead Girl Derby KC (OSDA) in 2009. She has been on the
Roller Con planning committee since 2008, VP/WFTDA Liason with Old
School Derby Association since 2009 and a Certified Instructor with Derby
Lite LLC since 2009. She is also a single mom and on the Board of
Directors of a Kansas City Community Theater Company. Ironically, the
start of her roller skating career was a co-staring role skating in a Kodak
110 camera commercial in 1981. Most recently, Sabra has joined a new
banked track league in her area, the Kansas City Banked Beauties.

Fernando Regueiro has been part of the Windy City Rollers since 2006, where he has served as a member
of the Board of Directors and has worked with the Events, Marketing and Interleague Committees. His
years of experience working directly with skaters, other leagues, USARS and WFTDA, give him a unique
perspective and demonstrate his commitment to the growth of the sport. He passionately believes in the
potential of roller derby to become a serious sport throughout the world. Fernando represented his home
country of Mexico as a national soccer team U-17 player and then played professionally for 3 years. His
perspective both as an athlete and a partner of a roller derby skater helps him relate to most of the issues
that the skaters face and what their needs are. As a board member of the Windy City Rollers he
established and executed strategic plans for the marketing, sponsorship and financial areas of the league.
His involvement with the Interleague committee allowed him the chance to work with other leagues,
USARS and WFTDA, on everything from tournament structure to rules. He currently serves as an
integral part of the Events Committee, where he is in constant contact with the skaters, the game, and the
fans.

Danielle Fairbanks currently serves as the Roller Derby Director at USA Roller Sports (USARS).
Danielle joined the USARS staff in March of 2008 as the Director of Competitive Sanctions/Roller Derby
Coordinator. Currently, she sanctions all the events for USARS as well as processes requests for
certificates of insurance (all disciplines). She is excited about the progress that is being made to add
additional programs (announcement of official international rule set, coaching & officiating programs,
training opportunities, tournament structure, etc.) for USARS member roller derby clubs and the efforts to
legitimize the sport globally. In December of 2010, she had the honor of traveling to Portugal to request
that the Federation Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS) recognize derby; the request was granted. She
is looking forward to the challenge of helping evolve one of the fastest growing sports worldwide, while
striving for inclusion in the Olympic movement someday.

Stephen Daughety, aka Crotch Rock-It, started his officiating career with Red Stick Roller Derby in June 2008 and served as their head referee in 2009.  He then moved to Pearl River Roller Derby, where he was head referee in 2010 and head coach in 2011.  He served as the tournament head referee for the 2012 USARS Southern Regional and as a head referee for the 2012 USARS National Championship.  He also created the independent website Derby South in 2011, which promotes roller derby in the southern United States by tracking game results for over three dozen local teams and by maintaining an informal rankings system for those teams.  Also, he uses Derby South to host an annual championship tournament, the Southern Belle Ringer.  Stephen is no longer affiliated with any one team and spends his time officiating for several local teams.

Amy Handyside-Rule aka Rowdy Piper a former artistic roller skater from 1982-2004 with national titles, and competed on the US World team in 1999 & 2000. From 1998-2004 she coached artistic roller skating, and has students that have regional titles. In 2007, after working in the industry of roller derby, she made the transition to being a roller derby player for the Orange County Roller Girls. Once getting involved with the Orange County Roller Girls, after only a few short months she was drafted to the Psycho Ex-Girlfriends interleague team and became the first captain of the Wheel House Wives, then moved up to the Orange County Roller Girls Travel Team.  In 2008, she ran two clinics and in 2009, she moved to Tulsa, OK where she began playing and assistant coaching the Tulsa Derby League. Amy, has been the league liaison for the Tulsa Derby League since 2009, and captain of the Tulsa Derby Brigade and in 2012 the assistant captain of the Tulsa Derby League All Stars which plays under USARS. In, July of 2011, Amy aka Rowdy Piper was the USARS Spotlight Skater of the month. The Tulsa Derby League in 2012 became the first North Central Regional Champions, and competed in the inaugural USARS National Championships. Now, in 2013 Amy continues her work and continues to play with the Tulsa Derby League, a mother of two girls (jammer & pivot in the future), and a wife to a derby player.  Rowdy.Piper79@gmail.com
