SECRHL Regional Championships recapTeams converge on SGAA Sportsplex in style
For the 17th year in a row teams from the Southeast Region have battled through a tenuous season to attempt to claim the right to be crowned the SECRHL Regional Champions. Hosted by the SGAA Sportsplex in Snellville, GA team arrived Friday and many battled through Sunday to represent their school and region at the NCRHA National Championships. As statistics and results are being updated the SECRHL is proud and excited to congratulate the following schools as the Champions of their respective divisions.
Since joining the SECRHL in 2010-2011 as a Division II school the Bethel University club has been nothing but a class act as well as a powerhouse of success in both the SECRHL as well as on the National stage. After handling business throughout the season Bethel again for the 4th straight year found themselves in the finals, claiming their 3rd SECRHL crown (2nd as a Division I school) against a talented Florida Gulf Coast squad.
Emerging from the city of Charlotte, NC just a few years back the UNCC team has again claimed the Division II title for a second straight year. The team lead by Joshua Khan have battled through the toughest divisional schedule and top to bottom toughest division in the region to represent the league as the Division II Regional Champions.
Founded in 1996 in a parking lot on the then growing UCF campus, the UCF Knights have been a mainstay in both the Division 1 and B divisions since the inception of college hockey in the southeast. For the 7th straight year UCF has claimed the B division and will represent the league in the NCRHA national championships.
The SECRHL is excited to congratulate the teams that have won their respective divisions and would also like to salute the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (DI and B) and the University of Florida (DII) who were the runners up in each division and will wait through NCRHA Selection Monday to see if they also will have a chance to head to the NCRHA National Championships this year.
