The NCRHA will attempt a first in roller hockey: having every game of a long event streamed live WITH play-by-play.
“Having announcers is key to enhancing the viewing experience,” said Rob Coggin, NCRHA Director of League Operations. “The NCRHA broadcast team is loaded with experience, knowledge, and talent that will help bring the viewers from far and wide right into the arena. Play-by-play announcing helps our fans understand what is going on in the game, know what point it is in the game they are watching, and makes it easier to follow the action and learn who the players are on both teams.
The NCRHA broadcast team is led by Bill Courtland of IBSU.net internet radio. Courtland has broadcast the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Championships live on internet radio for years and is a fan favorite with his distinctive voice and contagious enthusiasm.
Also on the team will be Kevin Whitmire of the American Hockey Network, which has brought Bethel University games to listeners for several years, and recently broadcast the Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (ECRHA) Regional Championships from Feasterville, PA, in early March. Courtland and Whitmire will be joined by Kyle Jones and Jeremy Ellis, both of whom have experience broadcasting games in the Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League (MCRHL), and roller hockey legend CJ Yoder, who has won multiple world championships with Team USA.
Games will take place over five days, from April 9 to April 13, 2014. Highlights of the schedule include the Division I Championship game at 7:30 PM on Saturday, April 12, and the Division II Championship game at Noon on Sunday, April 13.
