Santa Rolls Into Town With USARS Skaters

Nov. 22, 2011, 10:59 p.m. (ET)

USA Roller Sports will have skaters in the 2011 America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on national TV. This special parade unit is scheduled to roll into the well-known Detroit–based holiday spectacle at about 10:35AM on Thanksgiving Day and will skate into the TV zone around 11:25AM.

Over 50 Southeastern Michigan USARS skaters and several chaperones have volunteered to participate. They include Local, Regional and National Champions from figure, speed and derby skating disciplines and range in age from 9 to 45 years old. These athletes from the Rollerama Skating Club in Brighton, the Skatin’ Station Club in Canton, the Rolladium Club in Waterford, the Rollhaven Club in Flint and the Great Skate Club in Roseville will skate along with the extreme sports float, interact with the crowd and provide entertainment as allowed during pauses in the parade.

Our featured performers include National Freedance Champions, Jaymee Mason and Joshua Maloy. We also have Precision Synchronized Skaters from Rollerama and Precision Show Skaters from Rolladium who will provide line and circle formations. Individual dance and freestyle skaters will provide footwork and stunts, if the surfaces and weather permit. The Atomic Cup Cakes Junior Roller Derby skaters will even simulate scrimmage moves, while speed skaters will help spectators feel their need for speed. Every athlete is prepared to some share holiday cheer on wheels.

This is our second season in recent years, and we are excited for another opportunity to support the Parade Company and show off the range of our USA Roller Sports participants. So, take a break from your holiday morning cooking and watch a bunch of good sports having a great time.
