Condolences to the Family of Vern Binz of Bremerton, Washington, and to the Rink Hockey Community

Jan. 05, 2011, 6:09 p.m. (ET)
For over 20 years, Vern volunteered his support of rink hockey and its athletes in any way needed.  In 2007, he was honored by the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Roller Sports as the Volunteer Coach of the Year for Roller Sports.

According to Tom Hughes, “Vern Binz, a coach and an icon from The Bremerton Hurricanes passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 22nd.  Everyone who played or was involved in rink hockey knew and loved Vern. He was a very important part of Bremerton Hockey. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his personal family and his hockey family. He will be greatly missed in our sport and in our lives.”
