Want to be a part of the INTERNATIONAL ROLLER DERBY COMMITTEE?

Aug. 05, 2010, 2:39 p.m. (ET)

USA Roller Sports (USARS) is partnering with the Junior Roller Derby Association (JRDA) and the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of Roller Sports from other countries to form an International Roller Derby Committee.  The role of this committee will be to create a set of rules and policies that will belong to the international roller derby community.  We want to provide uniformity and standardization for the sport and future competition by encompassing all areas of the sport- junior, adult, flat track, banked track, etc.  USA Roller Sports endorses the formation of this committee, and at such a time when the numbers around the world warrant it, USARS will petition for formal recognition of roller derby by the Federation International of Roller Sports (FIRS).  Once the sport of roller derby is formally recognized by FIRS, all content created by this initial committee shall transfer to FIRS to support the addition of roller derby in the Olympic movement.  Parties interested in serving on the committee should submit their application (see requirements below) to USA Roller Sports.  Submissions can be made via fax (402) 483-1465 or email to dkrienert@usarollersports.org.

Application Requirements:

  • Resume- primarily focused on derby involvement
  • Minimum of 2 references
  • Essay on why interested in serving on the committee and what areas you are specifically interested in (coaching, officiating, competition, trainings, etc.)
