Evelyn worked as a teaching assistant for the Buffalo school system. She had a lifetime involvement of over 60 years in roller skating as an artistic com-petitor, a national level artistic judge and referee for test and competitive skating. She officiated at many U.S. National Championships and was also a chairman of a Buffalo Judge's Panel. Evelyn was involved in coaching and judging Special Olympic roller skating. She judged at area, state and world lev-els. For her many accom-plishments, she was award-ed the North East Roller Skating Region Lifetime Service Award.

For over seventy years, Evelyn had been a loyal and dedicated advocate of the sport of roller-skating.  Her tireless dedication to the sport had been evident at Local, State, Regional, and National levels, as well as at World level as a Special Olympics Roller Sports Official and Volunteer.

Through the years, Evelyn’s passion for Roller Sports has led her to assume many roles, which include:

         USARS Artistic Competitive Referee
Local, State, Regional, and National Levels

         USARS Artistic Competitive Judge

         Local, State, and Regional Levels

USARS Competitive Judge Trainer and Mentor

Directly trained judges at “C” and “B” levels

RSA Achievement Test Judges Panel Chairperson

Trainer of Judges at all levels

Planner and Facilitator of Test Centers

         Administrator of Judge’s Upgrading Testing

         RSA Achievement Test Judge

Achieved Level “4” Test Judging Commissions

         Competitive Skater

Competed in Figures, Dance Team, and Solo

         Recreational and Social Skater

Continuously patronized Public Skating sessions throughout her years of involvement with Roller-skating, in order to promote the sport and support local rink operators, despite the duties and responsibilities she had taken on.

         Special Olympics Volunteer and Official

Local, State, Regional, and World Levels

         Coach of Special Olympics Skaters

         Competition Judge

         Competition Referee

Evelyn’s involvement with Special Olympics Roller Sports led to her volunteering countless hours of her time to work with the Special Olympics roller skating athletes at local, state, and world levels as a Judge, Referee, and Volunteer Coach.  This included traveling extensively on a volunteer basis.

Her love of roller-skating did not end at the rink, as a visitor to her home would confirm.  Her living room housed an enormous "museum-like" collection of roller skating memorabilia, novelties, and collectibles, which she collected throughout the years of her involvement with the sport.

In 2006, at the Northeastern Regional Roller Sports Banquet, Evelyn was awarded the prestigious “LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD” by the members of the USA Roller Sports Northeastern Region Awards Committee.

Evelyn’s unselfish involvement has brought joy and satisfaction to all those she encountered has along the way, as she trained, coached, mentored, and encouraged skaters to be the best they could be - in the sport of roller skating - and in life itself.
