2009 REGIONAL FIGURE CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION

AR11.13.08 Defense of Title:

Skaters in ALL events who have placed first in a National Championship are required to qualify for the National Championships in subsequent skating seasons.



The below information refers to Figure Rules AR8.02.05-10 and has been sent with the intent to assist all coaches and skaters in their plans for Figure Regional event registration

·        Skaters/Teams who are eligible to compete in division events of Levels “A” and “B”, may register to skate both level events of the same discipline.

·        Skaters/Teams who are eligible to compete in division events of Levels “B” and “C”, may register to skate both level events of the same discipline.

·        Cross-Over event “A” and “B” skaters/teams:

In all events with five (5) or less participants at a Regional Championship, cross-over “A” and “B” skaters that place 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the “A” event may skate both division events to qualify for the National Championships. Placements of 1st, 2nd or 3rd at the National Championship with five (5) or more contestants will eliminate future participation in the Level “B” events of that discipline in subsequent skating seasons.

·        Cross-Over event “B” and “C” skaters/teams:

In all events with five (5) or less participants at a Regional Championship, cross-over “B” and “C” skaters that place 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the “B” event may skate both division events to qualify for the National Championships. Placements of 1st, 2nd or 3rd at the National Championship with five (5) or more contestants will eliminate future participation in the Level “C” events of that discipline in subsequent skating seasons.

·        Competitors may not compete in Level “C” and Level “A” events of the same discipline.

·        “Sliding Scale”; to qualify additional contestants to the National Championships in Domestic events; Figure Rule AR8.02.10:

Top four (4) qualify with awards

1 to 6 skaters or teams; 4 qualify

7 to 10 skaters or teams; 5 qualify

11 to 14 skaters or teams; 6 qualify

15 to 18 skaters or teams; 7 qualify

19 to 22 skaters or teams; 8 qualify

23+ skaters or teams; 9 qualify

(For purposes of the above information, the program listing will be disregarded in favor of the event score sheets for “actual skating” competitors)

WORLD CLASS EVENTS


·        In accordance to Figure Rule AR7.05.03 (b):

If the total entry in a World Class event was nationwide thirty (30) or less, the    following skating year all entries at the Regional Championship obtaining at least the minimum required score will qualify for the National Championships.

·        All World Class (Jr. / Sr.) competitors must qualify through the Regional Championships to be eligible to compete at the National Championships.

·        In accordance to Figure Rule AR7.05.03

To qualify for the National Championships in a World Class (Junior/Senior) event, a skater/team must receive the average score of 7.5 or more from the majority of the judges.

a.)    In WC (Jr. /Sr.) Figures, Solo Dance, Free Skating, and Pairs events: the total sum of all the elements (four scores), must be 30.0 or more from the majority of the judges officiating the event.

b.)   In WC (Jr. / Sr.) Team Dance events: the total sum of all of the elements (six scores), must be 45.0 or more from the majority of the judges officiating the event.

·        Skaters twelve (12) and older have the option to skate Junior/Junior World Class and Senior World Class in the same qualifying championships of the same discipline.

·        Skaters who qualify for the World Championships cannot compete in both the Junior World Class and Senior World Class in the same event at the World Championships.

 

2009 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

·      The location of both the announcers stand and the officials stand will be on the side of the auditorium at the Peoria Civic Center.

·      This location will be similar to the WC event judges stand from the 2007 Omaha Nationals.

·      ONE READY AREA will be provided (similar in location as the 2007 Omaha Nationals).
