Aug. 29, 2009, 1:18 p.m. (ET)

USA ROLLER SPORTS OFFERS DISCOUNTED CARDS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 2009 CALENDAR YEAR.

The USA Roller Sports National Headquarters will be offering discounted membership cards for both competitors and coaches in all disciplines (derby, figure, hockey, and speed) to finish out the 2009 calendar year.  Current USARS memberships expire on December 31, 2009.  The Executive/Finance Committees approved the issuance of a “partial year” membership card valid from September 1 through December 31, 2009 for new members.  The cost of this partial year competitor’s card is $20.  New clubs are given this break and are able to purchase a charter valid through the end of the year for $30.  USARS will also extend partial year memberships to coaches for $30.  All partial memberships will include USARS excess (secondary) accident/medical benefits as outlined on the appropriate registration form.  Registration may be completed by using the current applications as found on the USARS website (www.usarollersports.org).
Current competitors wishing to transfer memberships may do so without filing a “Transfer of Club Affiliation” form through the remainder of the calendar year, in essence being able to participate in USARS sanctioned events as “free agents” until the January 1 renewal date.  The purchase of a 2010 membership will determine a competitor’s club affiliation through the 2010 National Championships.
The Executive/Finance Committees also approved (effective September 1) the issuance of multiple club charters in each discipline for public facilities such as school tracks, skating trails, etc.  This alteration to the USARS General Rules (GR5.01.01) will allow for multiple clubs in each discipline to utilize public facilities while still being covered by USARS excess (secondary) accident/medical benefits as well as the availability of liability insurance for the facility.  The committees are planning on reviewing this policy at the next Board of Directors in relationship to multiple clubs in each discipline at privately owned skating facilities.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the USARS National Headquarters at 402-483-7551.
