The Junior World Team Members from the United States and many other countries worked hard to earn a position at this year's Roller Figure Skating Championship in dance, figure and freeskating disciplines. None came expecting to need ice skating skills for their first roller practices and events.

The arena floor was as slick as ice for those who were involved in the first practices and figure competitions. Michael Cooper, one of our new junior figure team members, said "... and then when I pressed an edge, my skate went sideways." Even with the excitement of a first world championship and the adventure of the floor, Michael ended up in 5th place, an excellent first showing.

Thanks to the efforts of the organizing committee and lots of hardworking, enthusiastic volunteers, the floor is now in great shape. Volunteers are cleaning the floor between each  competition segment to make sure that skaters are skating under the best conditions possible.
