Congratulations to George Goudie, recipient of the 2013 John LoMonaco Memorial Grant. George’s winning entry and essay were chosen from those of a number of applicants who vied for the all-expenses paid trip to the USAR Ektelon Nationals in Fullerton, California, May 15-19, 2013. An anonymous friend of John LoMonaco made this grant possible, donating the sum in memory of Mr. LoMonaco who passed away May 5, 2009. George, a retired educator, hails from Muskegon, Michigan.
Thanks to the LoMonaco Grant, he will be experiencing his first trip to the Nationals just five weeks from now. In his essay, George stated, “With help from the John LoMonaco Memorial Grant, a long-time dream can become a reality. I know how exciting our state tournaments can be. I can only imagine the excitement and buzz that comes with being part of the Nationals. I am an age group player (65+) who has a great time competing and even enjoys some success playing tournaments here in Michigan. Life is all about creating memories. I cannot imagine a better racquetball memory than the opportunity to participate on the greatest racquetball stage of all and share that excitement with people who share the passion for our great sport.”
As part of receiving the LoMonaco Grant, George will be reporting on his experience on the USA Racquetball website and in a coming issue of Racquetball magazine and/or the USAR eNewsletter.
