Team USA Pentathlon's Harry Greene goes through three drills to improve running efficiency.
1. Running in place and leaning forward
2. Drop squats
Drills 1 and 2 can be practiced every day if desired, while for new runners bounding at first shouldn't be a daily exercise. Bounding is a great plyometric exercise and helps teach a runner to run lightly and efficiently, however it's mildly stressful on untrained legs and should be done with caution. Three or four sets of ten bounds once per week would be fine to start with. As always, listen to your body. More drills to come.
