Margaux Isaksen crowned Champion of Champions
Margaux Isaksen (22 Fayetteville, Arkansas) dominated a global all-star field of the top 16 athletes in the sport of Pentathlon to secure the title of "Champion of Champions" in Doha, Qatar Saturday.
The top 16 athletes in the world who have each won a major championship this year, hence the moniker "Champion of Champions" gathered in Doha, Qatar to compete in magnificent facilities. Margaux started out strong and only got stronger as she bested the extraordinarily talented field. Finishing 3rd in the fencing event after struggling in only one or two matches, she cruised a 2:19 swim and entered the riding event in 5th place. Astride a great Hanovarian warm-blood, Margaux entered the incredible Al Shakab arena like a true champion and proceeded to ride a perfect course, executing even the most difficult maneuvers with ease. Starting the combined shooting and running event in 4th position only 2 seconds from the leader, Yane Marques of Brazil, the defending London Olympic bronze medalist.
It was apparent after only the first shooting series that Margaux would produce something special. She easily passed Marques and continued to extend her lead in each of the next 3 shooting and running series, dominating the event, the field and the day; earning the title, "Champion of Champions".
