USA Youth Athletes performed well in the NORCECA Youth qualification meet held Sunday, October 20th. Andrew Tapia of Novado, California took off to an early start with a stellar result in the fencing event, defeating Michael Hoffman of Tampa, Florida. Ben Heiniger, (Minnesota) Brendan Anderson (Colorado Springs, CO)) and Ted Koerner ( Denver, CO.) won the swimming event in a virtual dead-heat with Brendan Anderson moving ahead in the combined to qualify for the prestigious NORCECA championships to be held in Acapulco, Mexico. Joining Anderson, Heiniger and Koerner in qualifying is Samuel Felix from Novado, California.
In the women's division, Katy Penvose of Minniapolis, Minn., won the fencing event while Natalie Bowman, Iona, NY dominated the swim. In the combined event Bowman and Penvose joined Jordan McCurdy of Denver, CO. and Monet Moreau of San Marcos, Texas to round out the women's team.
