Drzonkow, Poland – Isabella Isaksen, Fayetteville, Arkansas crushed the field to capture gold at the Polish Junior International Open. Competing against athletes from 8 different countries, Isabella finished fencing in second position, separating two Lithuanian athletes who finished fencing respectfully in first and third.
Isabella then broke her personal record in swimming by more than 2.5 seconds, with a time of 2 minutes 22.02 seconds. The first 50 meters she swam in 33.5 seconds, her 100 split was 1:09.9, at the 150 meter mark she was at 1:35.8, to finish with a final time of 2:22.02. She swam a strong, smart race.
Going into the ride, Isabella was in third place behind Serapinaite from LTU and Fitton from GBR. Her ride was perfect. She rode beautifully, and without any mistakes, which gave her a perfect riding score of 1200 pts., and jolted her into first position going in to the final event (combined).
Isabella left the field far behind her with ease, shooting very well, and running swiftly. Every lap she increased her lead. This was Isabella's first international victory in her short pentathlon career. Great job Isabella!
