Nathan Schrimsher Wins US Pentathlon Championship

29 June, Colorado Springs, CO – Nathan Schrimsher, Roswell, NM won both the Senior and Junior titles at the USA Pentathlon National Championships. Nathan has had an exciting month, first winning the Colorado Springs regional pentathlon competition, then setting a national laser shooting record and now finishing with two national titles.

Nathan was strong in all events as he started with a perfect score in riding which was performed first because it was done off-site at the M&M Stables. When he returned to the USOC Training Center for the rest of the competition, he was second in fencing with 25 victories and a third in swimming. Already occupying first place over-all in the competition, he was second behind Dennis Bowsher, Colorado Springs, CO in the combined event (run/ shoot).

Nathan finished with 5,804 points. Dennis finished second with 5,768 points as he was sixth in riding, 1 second off of a perfect score, fourth in fencing, tenth in swimming and first in the combined event. Nathan and Dennis are both active military and part of the military’s World Class Athlete Program.

Nathan and Dennis will lead the USA Team for the Men’s World Championship to be held next month in Kaoshuing, Taiwan and will be joined by Eli Bremmer, Monument, CO and William Brady, Howell, Michigan who finished third and fourth respectively in the Senior Championship. Eli won the fencing portion while William recorded a perfect score in the riding.

In the Junior division, it was Brendan Anderson, Colorado Springs, CO in second place and Lucas Schrimsher, Rosewell, NM finishing third. Brendan along with the riders previously mentioned and Harrison Greene, Burlington, VT and Reed Dove, Flint Hill, VA had perfect scores in the riding portion.

Action at the USA Pentathlon National Championships continues on Sunday with the Mixed Relay. The event starts at 8:30 at the M&M Stables.
