July 28, 2013, 12 a.m. (ET)
Army PFC Nathan Schrimsher, Roswell, NM competing in Szekesfehervar, Hungary finished 18th in the finals of the Pentathlon Junior World Championships.

Nathan began the day in great shape winning 21 of 35 bouts in the fencing event followed by a very good 2:03.67 swim. His ride was flawless till the final jumps scoring 1120 points. Going into the final event, the "Combined" (a combination of swimming and running) normally one of Nathan's best events, in 6th place, we had high hopes for a medal. Unfortunately, his run was strong, but he had some difficulty with the shooting and finished with a disappointing time of 13:04.05 30 seconds slower than he did in his semi-final and fell to 18th overall.

Nathan will be competing tomorrow along with Isabella Isaksen, Fayetteville, AR in the mixed relay event.
