U.S. duo 17th in mixed relay at Youth Worlds

The American team of Meredith Pinkerton (Hudson, Ohio) and Aaron Lane (Farmington, Minn.) placed 17th in Thursday's mixed relay event at the UIPM Youth World Championships in Tata, Hungary. The team's strongest event of the day was the fencing discipline where they placed 8th with 17 victories.
Russia won the mixed relay event with 4856 points, followed by Great Britain (4768) and Belarus (4704). The U.S. team had 3284 points.
The athletes now have a rest day on Friday when they will be treated to a Hungarian culture day. Competition resumes on Saturday with the individual events.
