Relays Mark Opening Day of Youth Worlds in Hungary

The UIPM Youth World Championships opened on Wednesday in Tata, Hungary, with both the men's and women's relay competitions opening the festivitites.

The U.S. women's relay team of Paige Witter (Denver, Colo.), Natalie Bowman (Lodi, Calif.) and Kristina Troyanski (Austin, Texas) placed 13th in the field with 2620 points. The trio posted the 8th-best time in the swim portion of the event.

Russia won the women's relay with 4148 points, followed by Lithuania (4064) and France (4006).

The U.S. did not field a team in the men's relay event that was won by Germany with 4992 points. Korea took the silver with 4968 points and France claimed the bronze with 4904 points.
