Bowsher is Top American in Men's Qualification Round
Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas) turned in the top performance on the U.S. team but none of the Americans could crack the top 12 on Friday during the men's qualification round at the UIPM Modern Pentathlon World Championships in Rome, Italy.
Bowsher's point total of 4,436 placed him 18th in his qualification group, while teammate Will Brady (Howell, Mich.) was 22nd in the same group with 4,400 points. In a separate group, Eli Bremer (Monument, Colo.) placed 23rd with 4,388 points and Sam Sacksen (Somerset, Pa.) finished 35th after not competing in the last discipline, the combined run/shoot.
The World Championships continue on Saturday with the women's individual final. U.S. Army Captain Mickey Kelly (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will be in the field of 36 and attempting to earn coveted Olympic qualification ranking points. Kelly continues to improve on her remarkable story, having given birth to her daughter Lily just six months ago.
