The best pentathletes in the world are coming to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the first step down the road to the London Games. 2008 Olympian Margaux Isaksen, crowned Champion of Champions last year against the world’s best, will lead Team USA next Thursday, March 8th in the women’s semi-final contest. Army Specialist Dennis Bowsher and 2008 Olympian Sam Sacksen lead the men’s team the next day—with finals slated for both men and women taking place in downtown Memorial Stadium.
21,000-seat Memorial Stadium will host the riding and combined events March 8-11. Memorial Stadium, opened in 1934, overlooks the magnificent Charlotte skyline. Athletes will find it reminiscent of the classic view from Greenwich Park in London, site of the 2012 Olympic pentathlon. Many of the future stars of the London Olympic Games will make their American 2012 debut here as nearly 40 nations descend on the Queen City of Charlotte next week.
