Marathon Épée Tournament

WHAT IS THE MARATHON EPEE?

The Marathon Epee is a two-day epee tournament with two distinct competitions. Day one, Saturday December 15th, will be a Pentathlon style ROUND-ROBIN ONE-TOUCH mixed-epee competition with every fencer entered bouting every other fencer with the winner having the most total victories. Day two will be a regular 5-touch fencing competition with pools (male and female separated) seeded from the results of Day one. It is literally a Marathon of epee fencing at 6,000 feet of altitude.

WHEN and WHERE is the MARATHON EPEE?

The Marathon Epee tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday, December 15-16, 2012, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center Fencing Hall located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Competition begins each day at 8:00 a.m..

WHO IS COMPETING and WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

The U.S. National Pentathlon Team, the U.S. Fencing Epee Olympic Training Center Resident Team, national teams from Ukraine and Brazil, in addition to numerous Olympians, National and World Champions in both Fencing and Pentathlon. The first 72 fencers (male and female) to register will be entered. Under NO circumstances will the field exceed 72 fencers which will equal 71 bouts.

PRIZES - There will be a $1,000 total cash purse.
