The 2011 Modern Pentathlon Junior World Championships will be held Nov. 17-21 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The U.S. will be sending six athletes to compete in the prestigious event.
The men's team will consist of brothers Lucas
and Nathan Schrimsher
(Roswell, N.M.) as well as Harry Greene
(Concord, Mass.), while the women's squad will be comprised of Margaux Isaksen
(Fayetteville, Ark.), Samantha Achterberg
(Littleton, Colo.) and Rosalie Purvis
(Montgomery City, Mo.).
Isaksen, 20, is coming off back-to-back wins in the month of October at the Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the Champion of Champions event in Sicily, Italy. She finished 18th at the 2007 Junior World Championships and improved to a bronze-medal finish at the 2009 event. A win in Buenos Aires is a goal she is shooting for.
"It would be a great honor (to win Junior Worlds),' said Isaksen. "I have won Youth World Championships. Ultimately, it would be a dream come true to one day hold all three world championship titles -- Youth, Junior and Senior."
Isaksen, who qualified for the 2012 London Olympic Games by virtue of her gold medal at the Pan Am Games, is anticipating a great event in Buenos Aires.
"I know many of the Argentinian pentathletes and I have no doubt that Argentina will be a wonderful host to all the pentathletes," Isaksen added. "I am really looking forward to experiencing the culture and enjoying the city."
