USA Pentathlon Announces National Junior and Youth Regional Pentathlon Series and Junior and Youth Selection System for the 2011 World Championships.

The Development Committee for USA Pentathlon, chaired by High Performance Director, Genadijus Sokolovas, and consisting of members selected by their knowledge of the sport as well as  geographical location, is pleased to announce the creation of the National Junior and Youth Regional Pentathlon Series for 2011.

Confirmed competitions and camps are planned beginning with Colorado Springs from April 27th to 30th, moving to the Great Prairie Pentathlon event in Wisconsin, then to Ligonier, Pa., and Roswell, New Mexico before finally concluding with the Pre-Nationals Youth Camp and Youth National Championships to be held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, June 29th to July 6th. Pending 2011 competitions still yet to be confirmed are San Antonio, Texas and Palm Springs, California.

Organizers of these first-ever regional events have made a minimum two year committment, offering to host competitions in 2011 and 2012. This level of support will allow Pentathlon to grow within the local club structure.

Junior and Youth Athletes desiring to be selected for the 2011 Junior or Youth World Championships will have the opportunity to earn points at a regional event that will be added with their results at the respective Youth or Junior National Championships to create the ranking list for selection purposes.
