Bremer wins bronze, U.S. men take silver

For the second straight day a U.S. pentathlete has reached the podium at the 2011 NORCECA Modern Pentathlon Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico. Eli Bremer (Monument, Colo.), a 2008 Olympian, won the bronze medal in Saturday's men's competition. He also paced the U.S. team to a silver medal in the team competition. Suzanne Stettinius (Parkton, Md.) won the gold medal in Friday's women's competition.
Bremer was 3rd in the fencing with 888 points, placed 2nd in the swim and had a perfect ride before finishing strongly in the combined run/shoot to claim the bronze medal.
Will Brady (Howell, Mich.) finished 9th, John Gibbons (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was 17th and Nathan Schrimsher (Roswell, N.M.)  was 19th.  Brady and Schrimsher teamed with Bremer to capture the silver medal in the team event, finishing behind Mexico and ahead of Guatemala.
Sunday's competition will feature Bremer and Stettinius teaming up in the mixed relay. The women's relay will be Samantha Achterberg (Littleton, Colo.) and Rendy Lynn Opdycke (Mercer Island, Wash.), and the men's relay will team Gibbons and Brady.
