Isaksen & Stettinius Qualify for Women's Final at World Cup

Margaux Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark.) and Suzanne Stettinius (Parkton, Md.) advanced during Thursday's women's qualification round at the first Modern Pentathlon World Cup of the season in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

 Isaksen, 19 and a 2008 Olympian, placed second in Group 1 behind only world #1 Lena Schoneborn of Germany. Isaksen totaled 3952 points by placing third in the fencing (18 victories), sixth in the swim (2:20.22) aand fourth in the combined run/shoot (12:56.00). Schoneborn totaled 3960 points.
Stettinius, 23, qualified for the finals by finishing in 15th place in Group 2. She was 14th in the fencing (14 victories), 12th in the swim (2:22.36) and 13th in the combined (13:35.00) for a total of 3640 points. Amelie Caze of France led Group 2 with 4148 total points.
Competition continues on Friday with the men's qualification round. The finals for women will be held on Saturday with the men's final wrapping up competition on Sunday.
