The U.S. Team of 2008 Olympian Margaux Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark.) and Army Specialist Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas) took an early lead following impressive fencing, swimming and riding results during Monday's relay event of the Pentathlon World Cup in Sassari, Italy, on the the island of Sardinia.
Isaksen and Bowsher fenced for more than 900 Pentathlon points, swam 2:00.00 for 200 meters and then rode a clean jumping round in the equestrian event, only to fall short of a medal in the final combined event (a 3000-meter running and shooting race). Isaksen had trouble in the shooting portion, taking nearly a full minute to down the five targets and was passed in the process by many countries. When she passed the baton to Bowsher, it was simply too much of a gap to overcome and Team USA finished 7th.
