Mar 07 Isaksen 12th at World Championships

Eighteen-year old Margaux Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark.) finished 12th overall at the 50th Modern Pentathlon World Championships on Saturday in Chengdu, China. The 2008 Olympian turned in the best overall time during the combined run/shoot portion of the competition, helping her achieve her highest finish yet at a world championships.
 
France's Amelie Caze won her third world title, finishing with 5344 total points. She was followed by Lithuania's Donata Rimsaite (5272) and Germany's Lena Schoneborn (5216).
 
Isaksen, who finished 21st at the 2008 Olympic Games, had previous finishes at the world championships of 29th in 2008 and 17th in 2009. Her 12th-place finish today was bolstered by her winning time in the combined run/shoot of 11:56.41, nearly three seconds faster than runner-up Rimsaite.
 
Isaksen began the day by placing 22nd in the fencing event with 14 victories. She then placed 12th in the swim with a time of 2:18.16, and 28th in the riding portion to finish with 4972 total points.
 
Isaksen will be back in action on Sunday when she teams with Will Brady (Howell, Mich.) in the mixed relay event.
