2008 Olympian Margaux Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark.) advanced to Sunday's women's final at the fifth and final World Cup event on Friday in Berlin, Germany. Isaksen placed 7th in her group with a total of 3844 points.
She was 8th in the swim with a time of 2:19.13, 13th in the fencing with 18 wins and 17 defeats, and 4th in the combined run/shoot with a time of 13:00.20.
The two other American athletes in Friday's qualification round, Anna Olesinski (Roswell, N.M.) and Mickey Kelly (Colorado Springs, Colo.), did not finish in the top 18 of their group and failed to advance to the final.
Olesinski was 32nd in the fencing with 12 wins and 23 defeats, 28th in the swim with a time of 2:32.40, and finished the combined event in 12:39.45, the second-fastest time in her group. She placed 21st overall with 3624 points.
Kelly was 22nd in the fencing with 16 wins and 19 defeats, 30th in the swim with a time of 2:33.42, and 21st in the combined with a time of 13:31. She totaled 3500 points to finish 26th in her group.
The UIPM will broadcast the finals LIVE on Internet TV at pentathlon.org on June 5 (Men’s Final) and June 6 (Women’s Final). The broadcast will feature highlights from the fencing and swimming events as well as live coverage of the riding and combined events.
The Berlin World Cup is the fifth in a series of six events in 2010 which will culminate in the World Cup Final to be held in Moscow, Russia on June 18-20.
