U.S. Men Do Not Reach Finals at Berlin World Cup

The U.S. men's pentathlon team came up short during Thursday's qualification round at the final World Cup event of the year in Berlin, Germany.

Eli Bremer (Monument, Colo.), Sam Sacksen (Somerset, Pa.) and Will Brady (Howell, Mich.) each placed 18th in their respective groups while Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas) finished 22nd. A top-12 finish was needed to advance to Saturday's final.
 
Sacksen turned in the second fastest time of all three groups in the combined run/shoot, clocking in at 11:05. Brady was 5th in the combined run/shoot with a time of 11:31, and Bremer placed 5th in the fencing with 936 points.
 
Friday's women's qualification round will feature 2008 Olympian Margaux Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark.), Mickey Kelly (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Anna Olesinski (Roswell, N.M.).
 

The UIPM will broadcast the finals LIVE on Internet TV at pentathlon.org on June 5 (Men’s Final) and June 6 (Women’s Final). The broadcast will feature highlights from the fencing and swimming events as well as live coverage of the riding and combined events.

The Berlin World Cup is the fifth in a series of six events in 2010 which will culminate in the World Cup Final to be held in Moscow, Russia on June 18-20.
