The 2009 Champion and current World #1 Adam Marosi of Hungary is the favorite to win back-to-back world championships which would earn him a place in the history books. Strong competition will come from European Champion David Svoboda of the Czech Republic who will be looking to go one better than his silver medal at last year's worlds. 2008 Champion Ilya Frolov of Russia and his countryman, double-Olympic gold medalist Andrey Moiseev will be also looking for a podium finish in Chengdu.
