BUDAPEST, HUNGARY. The USA Pentathlon team will be represented in the finals competition of World Cup 3 today (May 10) in Budapest by Beijing Olympian Sam Sacksen who qualified on Friday in the semi finals at the Budapest Olympics Centre in Hungary. Sacksen moved up 14 places in the final combined run-shoot event with a time of 11:45 which was the fastest time of the day in his qualifying group.
Fellow teammates, Dennis Bowsher, Will Brady, and Eli Brady failed to finish in the top eighteen which was required to move on to the final field of 36 which competes on Sunday. Both Brady and Bowsher had very strong performances in the combined event, finishing eighth and ninth respectively, but this was not enough to move them up to the qualification spots. Bremer was in strong position after the fencing and swimming events, but his performance in the combined event was not strong enough to move him to the top eighteen.
Head coach Janusz Peciak reported from Budapest that all four athletes individually had strong performances in key events, but only Sacksen was able to put all three events together to achieve a spot in the finals competition to be held starting at 8 am CET in Budapest.
