USA Pentathlon Announces World Cup # 1 Team

The Performance Committee of USA Pentathlon is pleased to announce the nomination of the members of the US Pentathlon Team for the first UIPM World Cup to be held in Mexico City, March 2009. These team members have been nominated by the head coach of USA Pentathlon and approved by the USA Pentathlon Performance Committee and Board of Directors. Team members were invited, in order, based on their individual ranking from the 2008 season. Junior athlete's (if invited) selection was based on results from the 2008 Junior National Championships. If an athlete declined, the next athlete on the list who met the UIPM and USA Pentathlon minimum criteria was then contacted and invited to attend until all slots were filled. Funding for the athletes is competitive and is based on; funds allocated from the US Olympic Committee for this purpose, the individual athlete's ranking and meeting the minimum USA and UIPM Pentathlon criteria for international competition.

Team members for the first 2009 US World Cup team are, Eli Bremer, Dennis Bowsher, Sam Sacksen, Will Brady, Margaux Isaksen, and Daelyn Chase (self-funded). Coaching will be provided by Head Coach Janusz Peciak.

Members of the USA Delegation for the 2009 Mexico World Cup will include USAP qualified volunteers who will be self-funding to the event, but will not have a coaching role. Atif Siddiqi will serve as USA Chief of Delegation and Joach Sacksen, USA Pentathlon Board Director, will be officially attending.
