Margaux Isaksen Finishes Personal Best 17th at World Championships
Margaux Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark.) finished in a career-best 17th place on Sunday at the 2009 Modern Pentathlon World Championships held at the Crystal Palace in London, England.
The 17-year-old Beijing Olympian improved on her 29th-place finish at the 2008 World Championships by placing 28th in the fencing competition, 13th in the swim, 25th in the riding and a strong 8th in the combined run/shoot portion for a total of 5416 points.
China's Qian Chen won the overall title with 5840 points. Sixty athletes began the competition with the top 36 advancing to Sunday's finals.
The 2009 World Championships conclude on Monday with the team relay events. Will Brady (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Sam Sacksen (Somerset, Pa.) will compete for the U.S. in the men's relay. Brady placed 14th in Saturday's men's individual finals, while Sacksen finished 22nd.
