Jul 15 Eli Bremer Puts Together Impressive Performance to Take 12th Place in the Men’s Final of the 2008 Modern Pentathlon World Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 1, 2008) - Eli Bremer (Monument, Colo./Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Air Force) put together impressive performances in each discipline to take 12th place honors in today's final of the 2008 Modern Pentathlon World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Bremer used the run to move from 20th to 12th place, scoring a total of 5,432 points.

Margaux Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark./Colorado Springs, Colo.), the lone American woman to qualify for the final round of the 2008 Modern Pentathlon World Championships, finished 29th yesterday in the final event of the 2008 Olympic qualifying season. Isaksen scored a total of 5,172 total points.

Emily Shertzer (Hershey, Pa./Colorado Springs, Colo.), Michelle "Mickey" Kelly (Chatham, N.Y./Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army), Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas/Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army), Sam Sacksen (Somerset, Pa./Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Niul Manske (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) also represented the United States in the 2008 World Championships, but all failed to advance past the semifinal round.

Unique to the World Championships event, a team relay will be contested for both the women and the men. The women's team relay event will take place tomorrow, Monday, June 2 with the men's team relay taking place on Tuesday, June 3.
