This page will be used to inform Junior National Team members of all their informational needs for the 2015 JR PKF trip to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The links on the left hand side will be updated regularly with the most current information for all athletes and families.

Welcome to the Junior National Team! USA Karate is proud to once again send our Junior National Team to the Junior Pan American Championships. This year’s event will be held in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and we will be sending the best athletes ages 12-20 to represent the United States in this prestigious international event. You should be proud of your performance at the Team Trials, and we are confident that you will represent the United States well in Santa Cruz. USA Karate is very proud of our Jr Team and will be providing $20,000 in funding for the support of the Jr Athletes. This funding will be used to offset the costs of registration, insurance, and travel costs for coaches, medical staff and team leads for this championship. The remaining costs are distributed among the athletes in the administrative fee.
TRAVEL DATES - Monday, August 24 – Sunday, August 30
All athletes must arrive in Santa Cruz and be at the Team Hotel no later than 4pm on Monday, August 24. You may depart on Sunday, August 30.

The top two finishers in each of the elite divisions will be eligible to participate in Santa Cruz. As the trip is coming up quickly, you will need to notify us of your intent to participate as soon as possible. Please email your confirmation to email@example.com no later than Friday, July 31. After that date, we will begin to contact the other members of the Team Pool.
SURVEY & ADMINISTRATIVE FEE
Each athlete will need to complete the athlete travel survey prior to leaving for Santa Cruz. During this survey, you will also complete payment of the $350 Administrative Fee. Both the survey and the fee are required for participation. You can complete the survey by going to www.usankf.org and clicking on the Jr. PKF image. Your survey must be completed by Friday, July 31. If your survey is not submitted by this date at 5pm MST your spot will be offered to the next athlete in your team pool.

Important Travel Information

If you intend on participating in this years Jr. Team Trials please thoroughly read all of the below information regarding Visas and required vaccinations. If you are a U.S. citizen seeking to enter Bolivia as a tourist, you must have an entry visa. You can apply for a Bolivian tourist visa by mail or in person at Bolivian consulates in the U.S., as well as at Bolivian ports of entry, such as at Bolivia’s international airports and at land border crossings. Bolivian tourist visas are valid for five years from the date of issuance and allow the bearer to enter the country three times in a year for a cumulative stay of not more than ninety days. The tourist visa costs $135.00.
To apply for a Bolivian tourist visa by mail or in person at Bolivian consulates in the U.S., you may pay the $135.00 fee in cash, by deposit to the Bolivian Consulate’s bank account, or by money order. In addition to the $135.00 visa fee, you must present a visa application form with a 4cm x 4cm color photograph, a passport with a validity of not less than 6 months, evidence of a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation in Spanish, proof of economic solvency (credit card, cash, or a current bank statement), and an International Vaccination Certificate for yellow fever.
In the event of an unaccompanied minor, he/she must present an official Parental Authorization and Consent Certificate duly provided by the appropriate authorities.
Local Travel Recommendations
- Be aware of your surroundings, especially when traveling to tourist attractions or areas with large crowds of people!
- Only carry the essentials with you, and keep items such as cash, cards, and identification documents in your front pockets!
- The Embassy recommends using only radio-dispatched taxis or car services as street cabs can be used as a front for local crime.
