Jr World Championships Results

Nov. 13, 2013, 12 a.m. (ET)

It was a tough World Championships with high level competition across the board, but Team USA did not come home empty handed.  Jennifer Robinson (Hialeah, FL) took the 14-15 Female Kata Silver Medal.  Jenny was in the final against Ishibashi of Japan and looked very strong, but wasn't quite able to make it past losing 1-4 on the flags.  In her previous rounds, she defeated strong competitors from Croatia and Turkey amongst others.  A big congratulations to Jenny and her Sensei, Gino Alfonso, on this fantastic achievement!

That was Team USA's only hardware for the event.  Marika Watanabe (Rego Park, NY) took 5th in the 16-17 Female Kumite -48kg Kumite division.  Team USA's next highest results were a 7th place finishes from Max Segal (Deerfield, IL) and Joseph Martinez (Miami, FL).

We would have loved to see more hardware, but it was great to see our athletes be competitive on the world stage.  Team USA continues to be a force to be reckoned with, and we'll be that way for years to come!
