Pre-Teen National Champions Head to Greece

Today, a group of 13 teenage judo athletes head to Greece to represent the United States in the Ilioupoli cup, an international judo tournament. The team, which is composed of all national champions from Bantam to intermediate ages, will be competing in the historic city of Athens this weekend starting Saturday, May 24 to Sunday, May 25.

This year marks the second edition of the Ilioupolis Cup and will be held at the sport hall Ilioupolis- Ethnarhou Makariou & Iros Konstantopoulou.

Breakdown of participation on Saturday, May 24:

-         Seniors- Women above 1996

-         Cadets born in: 1997, 98, 9

-         Born in: 2001-2000

-         Born in: 2003-2002

Breakdown of participation on Sunday, May 25:

-         Born in: 2005-2004 (Juniors A)

-         Born in: 2007-2006 (Juniors B)

-         Born in: 2009-2008 (Mini juniors)/p>

This is a very important step for USA Judo and this age group at an international event as it had never sent such young athletes to compete abroad.
