2014 IBSA World Judo Championships USA Team

The Senior National Championships, as previously announced, also served as the qualifying event for the 2014 IBSA World Judo Championships for the blind and visually impaired. On the last day of the event, Sunday, May 4, some athletes qualified for the world team that will be competing in September in Colorado Springs, CO.

The athletes that qualified for the world team on Sunday,May 4 are:

MEN:

60kg – Ron Hawthorne

66kg – Josh Sisson

81kg – Adnan Gutic & Ryan Jones

90kg – Dartanyon Crockett & Howard Wilson

100kg – Myles Porter & Ben Goodrich

+100kg – Steve Mulhern & Johann Shockency

WOMEN:

57kg – Cindy Simon

63kg – Christella Garcia

+70kg – Katie Davis

The following list reflects athletes whose participation at the IBSA World Championships, as part of the world team, is contingent on their performance through additional competition:

MEN:

73kg - Matt Advasakdi (contingent on getting 1 additional win by August 1)

WOMEN:

52kg – Tina Thomas (contingent on getting 2 additional wins by August 1)

57kg – Marissa Arendt (contingent on getting 1 additional win and being promoted to sankyu)

+70kg – Angela Gies (contingent on getting 1 additional win and being promoted to sankyu)

The 2014 IBSA World Judo Championships is scheduled to take place from Friday, September 5 to Sunday, September 7 at the USA Olympic Training Center in the Beautiful city of Colorado Springs.
