USA Judo announced that record financial support will be provided to elite senior athletes in 2014, a stipend package worth a projected annual total of $241,000.

The stipends make it possible for athletes to focus more on their training and conditioning, said Eddie Liddie, USA Judo's High Performance Director. These stipends are provided to athletes in addition to funding for certain required expenses, including travel and tournament fees.

“It’s incredibly difficult to stay in top physical condition, to recover from injury and maintain a rigorous schedule of training to prepare for top competitions around the world,” Liddie said.

"These athletes are representing the United States, going face-to-face against the very best in the world," Liddie said. "We're all very proud of their efforts and success and we are committed to supporting them financially.”
