Sep 12 USA Judo To Sanction Events Allowing Arm Bars For Ages 15-17

Beginning immediately, USA Judo will issue sanctions for tournaments allowing arm bars for cadet-age competitors with a minimum rank of sankyu.

Following International Judo Federation rules to allow arm bars at tournaments for judoka ages 15-17, USA Judo has also decided to allow arm bars for Cadet-age teens.

The decision hinges in large part on USA Judo’s intent that these U.S. judoka be ready for competition at the international level where arm bars are now allowed.

Beginning immediately, USA Judo will issue sanctions for tournaments allowing arm bars for cadet-age competitors with a minimum rank of sankyu.

Tournament directors are still allowed to host events that do not allow arm bars for this age group
