World Championships Come to Close With Team Comp and Sweet Memory of Malloy Victory

The World Championships ended in Brazil with the fresh memory of Marti Malloy’s silver medal victory still promising another Olympic gold medalist in the future for Team USA.

Malloy (USA Judo Training Site, San Jose State University Judo/NYAC, San Jose, CA) went 5-1 in her 57 kg division to claim the silver medal, the third day of competition. Malloy took a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in London, a gold at the Grand Prix Miami and she already, along with fans, are targeting the top spot on the podium in Rio come 2016 at the next Olympic Games.

Today at the team competition, Japan won the women’s gold medal with Brazil and Cuba taking second and third. In the men’s team competition, the duel was between Georgia and Russia with Georgia coming out on top, Russia taking silver and Japan claiming third.
